The All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers state chapter, has called on all those allegedly behind the bungled Rivers state general elections to get ready to go to prison.
The party said the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state and the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs. Gesila Khan should prepare to pay for allegedly truncating the democratic process in the state during the 2015 general elections.
According to PM News, the party in a statement on Sunday, May 17, through Davis Ikanya, the state party chairman, accused Mrs. Gesila Khan of colluding with the PDP to obstruct justice.
It alleged that the duo were denying APC access to relevant electoral materials so as to conceal the electoral fraud of the March 28 and April 11 elections in the state.
The party said that there was no hiding place for Mrs. Khan, warning that there was always a day of reckoning. It went further to rope the REC in the alleged murder of about a hundred APC members by the Rivers PDP leaders during the poll.
”These sponsors of violence that populate Rivers PDP should be aware that they must taste the wrath of the law for their acts of infamy in Rivers and must surely spend some years in prison to serve as a lesson to people of their ilk. Where such characters are not duly punished we will never have a fair and peaceful election in Nigeria,” it added.
The APC expressed confidence in the resolve of the coming administration of Mohammadu Buhari to punish those who were sponsors of violence in the just concluded general elections.
The party also vowed to remain resolute in its struggle to reclaim the mandate of the Rivers gubernatorial poll which it described as stolen.
It said this would ensure that those unjustly killed by the alleged enemies of democracy be made to answer for their crimes.
The victory of Chief Wike of the PDP in the Rivers gubernatorial election has been opposed by the opposition which alleges that several irregularities and massive rigging took place during the poll. APC has vowed to upturn the defeat it suffered at the hands of the PDP at the electoral tribunal.
